February Volunteer Counselor Training

Our next date for Volunteer Counselor Training in San Francisco is Thursday February 24th 2011 and we encourage all interested counselors to attend if you can make. Our Volunteer Identity Theft Counselors work with local victims of identity theft, under our supervision, to help victims get through the ordeal.

The location will be at Spectrum Federal Credit Union in San Francisco (location details below). The training is free and will run from 10am to 2pm. Lunch will be provided.

Trainers will include Neal O’Farrell, founder of the Identity Theft Council; Inspector Anne Madrid, Hayward Police Department; and Karen Lodrick, victim and advocate.

Topics covered will include:

• A background on identity theft, recent trends, and statistics.
• Emerging threats and tactics.
• The impact on victims.
• How to prevent identity theft.
• How to respond to identity theft.
• Working with victims.
• Working with the Identity Theft Council
